January 06, 2021 – CalSavers - California State Mandated Retirement Plan
Speaker: Eric Petersen, Pension Consultant, Hicks Pension Services
The state of California is forcing most businesses in the state to sponsor a retirement plan. For businesses who currently do not sponsor a qualified retirement plan, the state is offering a plan called CalSavers. This mandate forces businesses to take action. CalSavers has several requirements which could be difficult for businesses to comply with on their own. The good news is that there are other options.
This presentation will detail the requirements of the CalSavers program and explore the alternatives. Our hope is that the audience leaves with a mandate of their own to educate the businesses that they are in contact with and help guide them to the proper retirement plan that works best for them. There will be a massive need for consulting on this complicated mandate and the attendees to this presentation should walk away with enough information to help with this consulting effort.
Eric Petersen brings a qualified background to Hicks Pension Services. After receiving an M.B.A. from San Diego State University, Eric spent four years as a plan administrator. As an administrator Eric established himself as an expert in the intricacies of IRS tax code as it relates to qualified plans. He also has received accreditation from The National Institute for Pension Administrators. Since coming to Hicks Pension Services as a consultant, Eric has been directly involved in the design and installation of more than 4,950 qualified plans. Eric has been with Hicks Pension Services for 23 years.

Jamie will review the investment vehicle called the Delaware Statutory Trust, which is a multi-owner, management-free real estate entity that has been approved by the IRS as like-kind real estate for a 1031 exchange. She’ll use real life examples to show you how the Delaware Statutory Trust has helped her clients retire from land-lording, replace their income, and defer taxes. You may be relieved to learn there’s more options for your clients in their 1031 exchange than what you previously thought.
